High Risk Hope's Second Annual Tot Trot in Tampa, Florida

TAMPA, Fla. - Nov. 2, 2014 - PRLog -- Tampa, FL - High Risk Hope will be hosting their second annual Tot Trot on November 15, 2014 at Gadsden Park located at 1601 S. MacDill Ave, Tampa, Florida. The Tot Trot is a family friendly 3K starting at 9:30 a.m. where participants can walk, run, trike, or stroll followed by activities provided by Berkeley Preparatory School softball team, Rowdies Soccer, Tampa Fire Rescue, BayCare ambulance and transport team, Playgrounds of Tampa, Fit4Mom and more. Cost: Adults (13 and up): $25/$30 at the Tot Trot; Children (5-12): $15/$20 at the Tot Trot; Children (0-4): Free. The Tot Trot is sponsored in part by WTSP 10 News, Tampa Bay Times, Tampa Bay Parenting Magazine and St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital.

November is prematurity awareness month across the globe, and the Tot Trot is scheduled in correlation with World Prematurity Day. Nearly 500,000 babies are born prematurely in the United States each year and 9,000 babies die as a result of their premature birth.  With a 2012 premature birth rate of 13.7%, Florida is one of the worst states in the nation in terms of premature birth prevention. High Risk Hope is partnering with local businesses to Light Up Tampa Purple and Green
November 15-17 in honor of World Prematurity Day and the Tot Trot.

100% of the net proceeds raised at the Tot Trot will directly benefit High Risk Hope’s community projects including Bed Rest Basket and NICU Napsack programs.  Each of which provide personal items to patients that are crucial to a long term hospital stay, and not supplied by hospitals, or any other nonprofit organizations.  High Risk Hope will also kick off their annual fundraising campaign at the Tot Trot.

High Risk Hope is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization formed on February 16, 2011 to provide support, encouragement, information and resources to women and families who are experiencing a high risk pregnancy resulting in hospital bed rest, potential premature birth and neonatal intensive care after delivery.  High Risk Hope is the only nonprofit organization of its kind and reaches over 1,100 families in the Tampa Bay community annually, helping to prolong their pregnancies and improve outcomes for their babies.
