LOS ANGELES - Oct. 31, 2014 - PRLog -- Garüdia:  Garifuna Visual Dictionary of Animals and Fruits, a new dictionary by Ben Flores has been released and is available for sale on

The dictionary is the first trilingual (Garifuna-English-Spanish) dictionary with pictures and is designed for learners of all ages.  “I thought that by writing this book, this would be another way of preserving our precious language,” stated author/editor Ben Flores, of Los Angeles, California, on the eve of the book’s release.

Although the trilingual dictionary is his first book, Mr. Ben Flores has been involved in language preservation all of his life and more recently as a board member of the Garifuna Hope Foundation and as an associate producer on two Garifuna language films, “Drums” and “Garifuna in Peril”.

With this work, Mr. Flores carries on a family tradition of expressing the Garifuna language in written form.  His father, Justo Flores, was one of the pioneers in writing the Garifuna language, penning such classic works as The Garifuna Story Now and Then in the 1970’s.
