WASHINGTON - Oct. 30, 2014 - PRLog -- The Bayer Group has released their third quarter earnings for the 2014 financial year and the company beat analysts’ expectations posting a 13% rise in third-quarter net profit. Net profit for the period was €826 million compared to €733 million from the previous year.  Primary revenue growth came from their pharmaceuticals and crop science division. “The strong upward trend in the Life Science businesses – HealthCare and CropScience – persisted in the third quarter. We saw robust sales growth for our recently launched pharmaceutical products and in our CropScience business in North and Latin America," Bayer Management Board Chairman Dr. Marijn Dekkers commented when the interim report was released on Thursday.

The Pharmaceuticals unit had a substantial effect on profit as sales rose by 7.8% boosted by market growth in the Unites States, China and Germany. Bayer’s anticoagulant Xarelto™,  eye medicine Eylea™, cancer drugs Stivarga™ and Xofigo™, and the pulmonary hypertension drug Adempas garnerered sales of  €750 million, compared to €407 million in 2013. Other key contributors from Bayer’s established pharmaceutical product pipeline include Mirena, the  hormone-releasing intrauterine device and Aspirin™ Cardio for secondary prevention of heart attacks.
