With the 2013 fundraiser bring in $9,790, the management team at Sombrero Mexican Food set out to hit the $30,000 mark during the company’s 30th Anniversary year in 2014, with the hope to send a total of 37 kids to camp.

“It’s been such an honor to be able to work with the MDA team over the past few years on three successful fundraising campaigns, each year raising more than the year before, ultimately exceeding our goal of $30,000,” said Javier Correa Jr., COO of family-owned and operated Sombrero Mexican Food. “While my team and I spearheaded and facilitated the campaigns each year, the credit belongs to our incredible customers who have blown us away with the support and donations to bring us to this exciting announcement. Thank you to every one who contributed; we know your donations will be used for life-changing services.”

This year’s fundraiser was held from August 25th, 2014 through September 30th, 2014, around the same time it has been held the previous two years. Sombrero guests were given the opportunity to make a donation of either $1 or $5 to MDA with a paper mobile to be displayed in store for entire month. Each mobile also came with a “$1-off any combo meal” coupon that could be used at any Sombrero Mexican Food location.

About Sombrero Mexican Food

The “San Diego-style” restaurant we know today as Sombrero Mexican Food first opened its doors in the summer of 1984, at its original location at the corner of Montezuma and El Cajon Boulevard. Javier, the CEO and founder, grew up in the restaurant business and decided to reopen what was his parent’s old taco-shop as a new, quick-service restaurant with authentic Mexican food. By using many of the original authentic recipes, providing dine-in restaurant quality, and quick & friendly customer service, Javier began his dream of creating what Sombrero Mexican Food has become today. With 19 locations in California and now Texas, Javier can be proud of the growth of this restaurant that he is responsible for.
