Global 1 Resources Goes Green with R2 Certification

Networking and telecom service specializing in providing state of the art server racks and computing accessories takes steps to earn certification for responsible eWaste recycling practices.

SAN MARCOS, Texas - Oct. 29, 2014 - PRLog -- San Marcos, TX -- Global 1 Resources, a server technology supplier under the M&B Exchange LLC corporate umbrella, is pleased to announce that the company is taking steps to reduce its impact on the environment. Global 1 Resources started the process of earning R2 Certification on October 13. Following a successful inspection to ensure the tech firm's recycling practices are up to international standards, the company will be awarded the certification. R2 certification is regarded internationally as a marker of a company that puts environmental responsibility high on its list of priorities.

In order to receive the certification, Global 1 Resources needs to have both ISO 9001 Certification and OSHA 18001 Certification, and the company must pass a rigorous inspection of its policies and procedures. ISO 9001 is an international operating standard for businesses that focuses on maintaining employee health, while simultaneously acting in a way that is good for the environment. OSHA 18001 stresses the importance of worker safety, the proper handling of equipment, and facility management in recycling operations. Global 1 Resources has both ISO 9001 and OSHA 18001 certifications, and is now in the middle of a lengthy, in-depth inspection process.

"Inspectors come and make sure that we are responsibly handling materials and disposing of them properly," says Marcos Garza, Owner of Global 1 Resources.

The R2 Certification is a time consuming and stressful process, but it's something that Garza believes will benefit Global 1 Resources and its clients greatly. More specifically, the certification will emphasize the promise Global 1 Resources already makes to its customers: no exporting recycled or waste materials to landfills outside of the country. The material and work stay in the United States.

"R2 allows us to recycle responsibly," Garza notes. "It's important to us that when we're doing our job, we're up to standard with what our government and our state is requiring us to do. This [certification] is a way for us to reach out to our local community to offer these recycling services as well as asset recovery services to enterprise businesses."

Thus far, Garza says, Global 1 Resources' clients have been impressed with the quality of service and transparency that come with using Global 1 Resources to get rid of devalued equipment. "As [businesses] have a need to get rid of decommissioned equipment and to move off-lease equipment, we step in and offer a return value for that equipment...It's a very transparent process that we offer back to our clients; they can see where their materials go, and who they're going to."

Garza and the entire Global 1 Resources team are looking forward to the completion of the certification process in two months time. By improving the firm's ability to make good on its mission statement of zero landfill and zero export, Global 1 Resources is confident that R2 Certification will mean only good things, both for the company and its clients.
