Follow on Google News | Student Group Tours of New YorkTeachers and administrators are getting more creative when it comes to educational field trips to NY. Broadway shows and museums have fallen into the category of; been there, done that.
Two popular student destinations have been Harlem and Ground Zero, both offering the culture and the history of New York. But many students have already visited Harlem or Ground Zero with their parents or friends. Bruce Scher, President of Walking Tours Manhattan, has led many middle school, high school and college student tours and believes walking and eating are two things students enjoy doing. “I’ve found offering students variety helps to reduce the level of boredom and keep the students looking forward to the next attraction on the tour. “Our most popular student tour is the SoHo/Little Italy/Chinatown Food Tour. Students enjoy walking through 3 distinctive neighborhoods, and stopping at 4 different places to eat, and seeing several local landmarks. They learn the culture and history of each neighborhood, eat in iconic shops and restaurants, and walk a little over a mile to keep things moving.” The menu is kid approved comfort foods. Two of the most popular items from the tour are pizza from Lombardi’s, the oldest pizzeria in America, and green tea ice cream from the family owned Chinatown Ice Cream Factory. The menu also includes Italian cold cuts and cheese, a cannoli, and Chinese dumplings. Student group tours New York are fun and educational learning about the different neighborhoods, tasting new foods, plus walking and socializing with their classmates. The tour takes only two hours, and can be customized to begin at 11, 12 or 1 o’clock. The menu can also be modified for vegans. End
