Essay on ORSA wins top honors for Maxwell

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Oct. 27, 2014 - PRLog -- Bloomington, Ill. – Pinnacle Actuarial Resources, Inc., congratulates Laura A. Maxwell, FCAS, MAAA, for taking top honors in an international competition of essays on how to review an Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA). Maxwell’s paper titled Regulatory Review of ORSA Framework received the first place award. ORSA is a tool that will supplement the solvency monitoring responsibilities of state insurance regulators.

The competition was sponsored by the Society of Actuaries, the Casualty Actuarial Society and the Canadian Institute of Actuaries. These three organizations make up the Joint Risk Management Section, whose purpose is to further the education and research in the area of risk management and increase the profile of the actuarial profession.

Maxwell is a consulting actuary with Pinnacle in San Francisco and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from Moravian College.  She has more than 25 years of actuarial experience in the property/casualty insurance industry and joined Pinnacle in 2006. She is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society, where she serves on the Webinar and Examination committees, and is a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
