NEW YORK - Oct. 28, 2014 - PRLog -- New York City Fire Department safety codes for commercial buildings and hotels establish requirements and standards for life safety and property protection in the event of an emergency, both fire and non-fire.

In 2004 the City of New York passed Local Law 26. The law requires that certain classes of buildings develop, maintain, and practice an established emergency action plan. In New York City class B commercial building and class R-1 hotels are required to follow FDNY fire safety codes and are subject to routine inspections.

In April of 2006 the FDNY amended the Fire Code. In the new FDNY fire code, section R404-02m requires an EAP Log Book be bound and maintained onsite for five years.
