By: L.A. Wolves FC L.A. Wolves Midfielder Jamie Duffie opened the scoring account for the Wolves in the 22’ minute off a nice through ball from Wolves from Midfielder Rhys Hoenes to give the Wolves a 1-0 lead in the 15’ minute of play. The Wolves had several other goal scoring chances but could not convert but managed to hold onto to the lead going into half time as Penmar LA FC battled hard to stay in the game. The second half opened up with both teams going toe to toe but this time it would be Penmar LA FC who would regain the momentum after a nice passing combination put the Penmar’s forward Gatien Moriceau one on one with Wolves Goalkeeper Lucas Nacimento as he slipped the ball into the back of the net tying the game up 1-1 in the 71’ minute. The L.A. Wolves immediately reacted as Wolves new Russian signing Damir Baimagambetov calmly collected the ball on top of the box with a ball from the right side and placed a low shot on the ground to the right side of the net beating the Penmar FC’s keeper Matthias Galica, giving the Wolves the 2-1 lead. The Wolves would hold on and manage the lead as time ran out for Penmar to tie the game as the Wolves gained the full three points. The victory moved the Wolves into second place in the standings behind both Santa Monica and Del Rey City who play a Sunday night match in UPSL action. Yan Skwara President/GM of the L.A. Wolves stated, “The boys played well enough tonight to get three points but I think they all know they are capable of playing a better 90’ minutes then what they showed. We are still incorporating some new players into the squad and need to focus on training this week as we have a tough opponent in Del Rey City SC this coming weekend as we need to stay in the winning mode.
