The Writing Contest You Could Actually Win

SAN DIEGO - Oct. 25, 2014 - PRLog -- The Gittle List: Top 10 Self-published Children’s Picture Books is a free writing contest exclusively for self-published authors. Hosted by Aviva Gittle, the owner of Aviva Gittle Publishing, the contest is in its second year.

Direct submissions from self-publishers and books Aviva has read throughout the year are included in the contest. She says, “Last year, I got about 60 submissions and also considered about 40 other books that I had reviewed. A one-in-ten chance of winning is pretty darn good! This year, my goal is to get 150 direct submissions.”

The inspiration for The Gittle List came in 2013 when Aviva reviewed the work of other self-published authors. “I discovered several books that I loved as much as the classics from my childhood. It opened up a whole new world for me.”

Aviva knows firsthand how difficult it is for a self-published book to get noticed. “Self-publishers just don’t have the marketing budget that traditional publishing houses have. Our staff typically consists of Me, Myself, and I and a few contractors from Elance.com.”

The Gittle List is free to enter. Aviva explains that she isn’t in it to make money. “The Gittle List exists for two reasons: To shine a light on quality self-published children’s picture books and to give the Aviva Gittle Publishing brand some exposure It’s a win-win.”

This year The Gittle List will be published before the holidays as a gift-buying guide.
