New York Youth Symphony launches Kickstarter to help fund our tour to Argentina
Help introduce young musicians to international travel and experience first-hand the power of music to cross national borders as it inspires and connects people to each other.
The NYYS orchestra will play three performances in Buenos Aires and surrounding areas, performing works they will have prepared and performed during the orchestra’s regular 2014/15 season in New York, as well as Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7. The violinist Elena Urioste, named one of the “Future Fifteen” by Latina Magazine, will join the tour performing the Beethoven Violin Concerto. Molly Joyce’s Fresh – an NYYS commissioned work – will complete the program. In addition to the concert program, the students will participate in a series of invaluable cultural exchanges with South American students in Bueno Aires and the surrounding areas. These cultural exchanges will be first-hand, experiential education of another culture for our orchestra students, and as such opportunities for expanding their own world views and understanding of people very different from themselves.
We hope you will make a pledge today to the NYYS Fund to Argentina
