New Jersey Blues Legend Billy Hector To Release New CD on November 1

Oct. 23, 2014 - PRLog -- Asbury Park, NJ, October 23, 2014 – “The Fire Within,” a new CD by New Jersey blues legend Billy Hector, will become available to the public on November 1, with a launch party at The Wonder Bar in Asbury Park, Spring Lake-based Ghetto Surf label announced today. The  CD, featuring three new original singles, will be available for purchase at www.billyhector.com, as well as at Hector’s regular live performances in New Jersey and around the tri-state area.

Hector, a two-time winner of East Coast Rockers “Best Guitarist” award, has more than 35 years of live performances, including two appearances at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame American Masters Series. “The Fire Within,” Hector’s 14^th album, features a supporting cast of a dozen musicians on instruments ranging from harpsichord and violin to piano and horns to Hector’s more familiar styling of bass, drums and guitar.

Primarily recorded at Lake House Studio in Asbury Park and Jankland in Belmar, “The Fire Within” features three new Hector original singles.

n  “Fake I.D” is a sly and humorous ode to taking life as it comes and letting the chips fall where they may. This track also features Billy’s signature killer slide guitar work with a sparkling assist from Mickey Melchiondo on guitar. Tim Tindall plays bass and Sim Cain on drums.

n  “Broken Down” is a story of personal renewal in the aftermath of a disaster featuring Suzan Lastovica on backing vocals, Arne Wendt on harpsichord and Dave Rimelis on violin.

n  “Step It Up” is a straight up party stomper featuring a guitar conversation between Hector and Bob Bandiera urging us all to channel the true spirit of rock and roll and let the music set you free. Assisting in that goal are horn players Tom LaBella and Steve Jankowski. Tim Tindall on bass; Sim Cain on drums.

n  “Memory Motel” is a cover of the Rolling Stones hit song telling of a long lost love. Hector’s treatment is guitar driven than the original, and features Suzan Lastovica on backing vocals, Glenn McClelland on piano, Sim Cain on drums; and Tony Tino on bass.
