By: Meeson Williams Phillips Meeson Williams Phillips has witnessed a continuing demand for business property in Oxfordshire during 2014. Statistics have revealed that available office space to buy or rent across the county is at its lowest point for 5 years - as many companies busily try to secure the best possible premises to grow and maximise client revenue. Over the last few months Meeson Williams Phillips has received a number of enquiries from clients on the lookout for offices in Oxford city centre. Director David Williams said “Hectic market activity has reflected local economic growth which is excellent news for Oxfordshire. In recent months we’ve seen a marked increase in demand, both in terms of the number and size of requirements. Our latest research shows that demand for offices has increased by 65% and industrial space by 127%”. A notable recent office purchase was made by Yellow House - the English language guide publisher - who acquired a new listed office in Abingdon. The deal brokered by Meeson Williams Phillips sees Yellow House occupy the ground floor of the office space, having made the decision that they wished to purchase rather than hire to allow for increased flexibility. Yellow House owner Claire Selby said “Abingdon is an ideal base with its reputation for good educational establishments, proximity to Oxford and travel links to London. The building has a long and colourful history which we have started researching” Other news has seen Witney’s iconic Langdale Hall put up for sale in September. Meeson Williams Phillips is marketing the hall - built in the 1920s - and accepting bids of over £750,000. The venue is currently used by Witney Town Council to host social, community and corporate events. Meeson Williams Phillips director Mark Meeson said “This is a rare opportunity in the heart of Witney town centre. We have had pre-application discussions with planners and they have confirmed that the buildings would be suitable for a variety of different uses. The ground floor could be converted to shops or a restaurant for example, while upper floors would make excellent offices or apartments”.
