Westie Walk 2014 Exceeds Fundraising Goal

DALLAS - Oct. 21, 2014 - PRLog -- Westie Rescue of North Texas (WRNT) today announced the final event numbers from Saturday’s eleventh annual Westie Walk.  The goal for 2014 was to raise $15,000 for the non-profit and thanks to the very generous sponsors, Westie Walk participants and the hard work of volunteers, the largest WRNT event raised over $17,500 for the organization—almost three times the amount WRNT raised at Westie Walk in 2013.

WRNT is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that rescues and rehabilitates abused, abandoned, neglected, homeless and surrendered West Highland White Terriers.  WRNT is completely staffed with volunteers and relies on donations and fundraisers to provide medical care for the rehabilitation of Westies in the program.  The Westie Walk is WRNT’s largest fundraiser and all registration fees, raffle ticket purchases, donations and sponsorships go back to the organization.

Westie Walk 2014 was a huge success with over 200 humans and 150 dogs that registered for the event at Mary Heads Carter Park in Carrollton.  The day was filled with fun doggie activities, including a costume contest, bowling, the official Westie Walk, musical chairs, a parade of rescues and Westie races.  Prizes were given to contest winners and a silent auction and raffle helped raised money for the non-profit.  Participants enjoyed Mattito’s TexMex cuisine, delicious cheesecakes from Cheesecake Royale, and snacks and beverages from Kroger throughout the fun-filled day.

WRNT is extremely thankful for the sponsors of Westie Walk 2014.  Our Title Sponsors include Springer Financial Services, Alli Leone and the Boarding Bungalow; Platinum Sponsor USMD; and Gold Sponsors Amphibian Stage Productions, Kroger, Fur Friends Pet Salon, DFW Fence Doctor, Cheesecake Royale, Nature’s Variety Instinct, East Dallas Veterinary Clinic, Pam Davidson and Sounds Like Paul DJ services.  WRNT would also like to thank all Silver and Champion sponsors.

If you would like to donate to WRNT, please visit www.WRNT.org or contact Hoong Nan Young, Chair of Fundraising, at 214-207-2850 or via email at fundraising@wrnt.org. There are dozens of abused and abandoned Westies in the metroplex that can benefit from fundraising events, donations and sponsorships.  Every donation helps and is greatly appreciated.
