"A W.O.D. To Remember" FREE Event

CrossFit H-Town Heights gathers the Houston community to raise funds and awareness for Alzheimer's Disease
HOUSTON - Oct. 20, 2014 - PRLog -- Houston, TX, October, 2014 - CrossFit H-Town has taken up the challenge of getting the Houston community involved to raise money and awareness for Alzheimer’s Disease, in an unconventional kind of way. Guests will have the option to participate in “A WOD to Remember” (WOD = workouts), which will be programed to mimic Alzheimer's like symptoms. This event will take place on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at the CrossFit H-Town Heights location, 2632 N. Durham Dr. from 10AM – 1PM, exactly one week before Alzheimer’s Awareness month!  Along with free workouts, there will also be food, music, giveaways and fun for everyone!

Seth Lawrence, Owner of H-Town Heights says, ‘I have taken part in the raising money and awareness for Alzheimer’s disease since 2004 with the help of friends and family. This year, I realized I had the opportunity to reach out to many more by incorporating CrossFit H-Town and the community. It is important to me and my family, therefore I will do as much as I can. Alzheimer’s disease took my father’s life at the early age of 61 and it’s frightening to know that the number of deaths is increasing every year because of this incurable disease. It’s always a challenge to get everyone involved, but at the end of the day if I can educate one more person and provide one more dollar to fund research, I am happy.’

For those unable to participate in the October 25th  event, you can still make a donation by visiting Seth’s team page: “Ernie’s Alzhstars” at http://act.alz.org/site/TR?team_id=244510&fr_id=5446&pg=team. There you will not only have the opportunity to donate, but you can also elect to join the team and walk on Saturday, November 1st at the Alzheimer’s Association’s annual “Walk to End Alzheimer’s” event at Minute Maid Park.  You can do so by selecting team “Ernie’s Alzhstars”, or you will also have the option of forming your very own team.

Since 2004, “Ernie’s Alzhstars” has raised over $8,000 and with your help that number can continue to grow. To learn more about Alzheimer’s Disease, please visit: www.alz.org
