Newhaven Court at Lindwood event to benefit newborn injured in shooting

GREENSBURG, Pa. - Oct. 20, 2014 - PRLog -- Newhaven Court at Lindwood will hold a bake sale and fundraiser to benefit infant Shayne Iverson, who remains hospitalized after being struck by a stray bullet at his family’s home less than a week after his birth in September.

   Shayne’s mother, Stefanie Iverson, spent two years as part of the Newhaven Court at Lindwood Activities team at the senior living community in Greensburg.

    The bake sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, October 23 at Newhaven Court at Lindwood, 100 Freedom Way, Greensburg.

    “Even though she no longer works here, we feel Stefanie remains part of the Newhaven Court at Lindwood family. Our team, our residents and their family members all want to help during this trying time,” said Lori Grant, Executive Director at Newhaven Court at Lindwood. “We want to hold this fundraiser to help with any costs that the Iversons will incur as a result of this tragedy.”

    According to multiple media reports, Shayne was being held in the arms of his father, Jeremie Iverson, as he sat on a couch at the family’s home in Indiana County. Reportedly, a shot fired by a hunter nearby struck Shayne.

      Shayne has been at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh since the accident. Family members established a fundraising campaign on gofundme.com.
