One of a select few companies committed to the presentation of concert jazz dance, JazzAntiqua Dance & Music Ensemble was founded in 1993 to celebrate jazz as a vital thread in the cultural fabric of African American history and heritage, and a defining element of the American experience. The company has collaborated with a esteemed list of musicians and composers including bassist Marcus Shelby (JazzAntiqua co-founder), vocalist Dwight Trible, trumpeter Brian Swartz, pianist Ark Sano, percussion master Munyungo Jackson, piano virtuoso Eric Lewis (ELEW), and cultural fusion artists Maetar.
JazzAntiqua has performed at Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts, 2013 Playboy Jazz Festival (Hollywood Bowl), Ford Amphitheatre, Luckman Fine Arts Complex, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Irvine Barclay Theatre, Lehman Performing Arts Center (New York), The Jazz Bakery, Watts Towers Jazz Festival, California African American Museum, Dance Mission Theatre (San Francisco), Suncoast Hotel and Casino (Las Vegas), Japan America Theatre, the Music Center and many other distinguished venues.
