LIMERICK, Ireland - Oct. 17, 2014 - PRLog -- One of the country's foremost pianists and chamber musicians will perform in Limerick later this month as part of the Castleconnell Autumn Concerts Series.

Belfast-born Michael McHale, who has established himself as one of the leading Irish pianists of his generation, will be appearing at the All Saints' Church on Tuesday 28th October, 8pm.

Michael has performed frequently as concerto soloist with the Hallé, Bournemouth Symphony and Moscow Symphony orchestras, Discovery Ensemble in Boston, the London Mozart Players and all five of the major Irish orchestras in repertoire ranging from Mozart and Beethoven to Gershwin and Rachmaninov.

A recent début with the Irish Chamber Orchestra saw Michael deputise for the indisposed Leon Fleisher in a performance of Prokofiev’s Left Hand Concerto with Gérard Korsten.  His début solo recitals in the Wigmore Hall (London) the National Concert Hall (Dublin) and the Phillips Collection (Washington DC) received great public and critical acclaim.

Michael collaborates regularly with Sir James Galway, Michael Collins, Patricia Rozario, Ensemble Avalon, Cappa Ensemble and the Vogler Quartet.

At his upcoming appearance in Castleconnell, Michael will be performing Franz Schubert (Four Impromptus Op.90 I. C minor  II. E flat major  III. G flat major IV. A flat major); Traditional: (arr. McHale); Debussy (Estampes  II. La soirée dans Grenade III. Jardins sous la pluie); and Mussorgsky (Pictures at an Exhibition).

The 9th annual Castleconnell Autumn Concerts Series got underway in late September with a performance from the award-winning Chatham Saxophone Quartet. The series is organised by the Arts Office of Limerick City & County Council and committee member Pat Burke with support from the Arts Council.

The final concert in the Series takes place at the same venue on Thursday 20th November when German native Leonard Elschenbroich, one of the most charismatic cellists of his generation, presents masterpieces from the solo cello repertoire.

Tickets (€15, concession €10) will available at the door prior to both upcoming performances.  Further information is available from Limerick City & County Council Arts Office, Merchants Quay, Limerick on 061 407372 / 407298 / artsoffice@limerick.ie, www.facebook.com/LimerickArtsOffice or on Twitter (LimerickArtsOff).
