TheBlackManCan Institute comes to New Jersey!

NEWARK, N.J. - Oct. 17, 2014 - PRLog -- On Saturday November 8, over 100 inner city high school aged males will come together with a common goal to be empowered by New Jersey community leaders.  Fashion For a Cure, New Jersey City University, and Design by Law proudly presents TheBlackManCan Institute of Jersey City. Committed to changing the images of Black males, Brandon Frame, CVO of TheBlackCan.org, vision is to see TheBlackManCan Institute in every major market; New Jersey is the third stop on a four major city tour. Young men of will spend a day at NJCU under the guidance of individuals who will equip them with indispensable knowledge to entrench success in a changing society.

Sean Christopher, CEO of Fashion For A Cure, states "It was important for us to bring the institute to New Jersey because there is a lack of unity and intimacy among our male leader and our male youth.  This event answers our community's desire to bridge the gap while strengthen our youth as they are vital elements to our future."  High school aged males will benefit from a day of mentoring which includes workshops focusing on, but not limited to, topics such as health and wellness, academic excellence, police interaction, college preparation, and leadership skills.

The keynote speaker, Baruti K. Kafele, a former New Jersey middle school and high school principal, is an award-winning educator, an internationally renowned speaker and best-selling author. Principal Kafele is well known for motivating Black males to excel in and out of the classroom and become leaders in their community. As stated in his biography, he is "driven to help at-risk male students throughout America reach their potential, Principal Kafele says his most important work is a YouTube video series he created entitled: Message to Your Son, which is a series of over 100 short "selfie" videos where he speaks directly to male students of all ages and ethnicities."

Although stemming from diverse backgrounds and career paths, these three men undoubtedly came together believing that Black male youth of all walks of life can gain from the institute. Lenny Williams, CEO of Design By Law, a previous workshop presenter for institute and the liaison between the institute and NJCU, believes "...this program will help young students understand the possibilities of higher education and additional life skills all at a college campus." All young men attending the institute will receive neckties, a copy of Mr. Frame's debut title book, Define Yourself, Redefine the World: A Guided Journal for Black Boys and Men and a life changing experience dedicated to motivating and educating them as young kings.
