Dr. Shin has an unparalleled educational background from top universities in the United States and South Korea. She earned her juris doctor from University of California, Irvine, and holds a Ph.D in neuroscience from Northwestern University – providing her with unique insights into the IP challenges faced by chemists developing groundbreaking medical treatments. In her IP work at Fish & Tsang, she specializes in domestic and foreign patent prosecution across various technology industries, including biological science, medical devices, chemical engineering and computer sciences. Dr. Shin is a member of the Orange County Asian American Bar Association, Korean American Bar Association, Korean-American Engineers-Scientists Association and Society for Neuroscience.

Dr. Halpenny also holds an impressive background with a Ph.D in chemistry and a juris doctor from University of California, Hastings. She is a member of the American Chemical Society. Motivated by the scientists and inventors she previously worked with, Dr. Halpenny pursued a career in law to help these professionals pursue their goals with legal support.
