MELBOURNE, Australia - Oct. 14, 2014 - PRLog -- With Bordeaux wines seeing a price and interest resurgence after a number of flat years, wine enthusiasts, collectors and investors across the globe are again focusing in on the top blue chips wines. Fine wine from Bordeaux does not come any bigger than Chateau Mouton Rothschild, one of the five First Growths. If an investor or collector wants to invest in a blue chip wine they should not pass up an opportunity to own one of the world’s finest wines.

The current price point of A$7,995 for a case of 12 on the Mouton Rothschild 2005 represents very strong investment potential. With demand firmly back in favour for First Growth wines we would expect the price to return to the level we saw in 2011 and gradually continue in line with older back vintages as supply diminishes further.

Recent auction results also confirm our sentiment and confidence in Mouton Rothschild as a brand with many lots far outstripping their pre-auction estimates. Mouton Rothschild is still a highly desirable brand amongst consumers and collectors alike, and will undoubtedly continue to provide investors with a stable return over the medium to long term.

Robert Parker, the world’s best known wine critic, gave the following tasting notes - The 2005 Mouton Rothschild will have to take a back seat to the prodigious 2006, but administrator Philippe Dalhuin deserves considerable credit for pushing Mouton to higher quality levels over recent years. A blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest mostly Merlot, the dark purple-hued 2005 exhibits a restrained but promising nose of cedar, tobacco leaf, creme de cassis, and toasty oak. Full-bodied, tannic, and extremely backward, with the vintage’s tell-tale acidity, it appears to be even more closed in the bottle than it was from barrel. It does possess a long finish and multilayered mouth feel. This is an undeniably outstanding, yet restrained, shy wine for a Mouton Rothschild. Anticipated maturity: 2018 - 2040+.

Cult Wines Director Harley Salt explains further “Entering into any investment market for the first time can be a little daunting without expert help. Here at Cult Wines we like to draw on many years of fine wine and investment experience to ensure a successful wine portfolio. We strongly believe that the 2005 Mouton Rothschild offers excellent growth prospects given it is trading at a significant discount to comparable Mouton vintages, especially given the change in market sentiment towards the First Growths of Bordeaux. At below A$8,000 for a total investment it provides new investors and collectors a great entry point to an exciting and profitable market”.
