District 86 Toastmasters to hold Fall Conference in London, ON, Nov-7-9, 2014

LONDON, Ontario - Oct. 8, 2014 - PRLog -- District 86 Toastmasters, which is affiliated with Toastmasters International, is pleased to announce that it will be holding its 2014 Fall District Conference in London, Ontario.  The conference is scheduled for November 7, 8 and 9, and will be held at the Best Western Plus Lamplighter Inn and Conference Centre.

District 86 will be holding its Humorous Speech and Table Topics Contests during the weekend.  In addition, the Toastmasters District 86 Communication & Leadership Award will be presented to local resident Ms.Chris Moss for her outstanding contributions and leadership in the London community over the years.

After 23 years working in the nonprofit sector, Chris Moss has worked with many types of organizations to help create a positive yet lasting impact in people's lives. Working on the front line caring for people with significant physical disabilities, mental health issues, homelessness and housing concerns and teenage parents taught her a lot about her own leadership. Now, as a new business owner and consultant in the areas of community and leadership she works to develop young leaders, reenergize older leaders and create caring, innovative and authentic leaders who work with our most vulnerable populations. Always wanting to shake up the status quo and help people to look at life in new ways, Chris strives each day to challenge people to do more than they ever imagined was possible.

Ms. Maureen Zappala, a Distinguished Toastmaster, an award winning speaker, author, presentation coach, a former NASA propulsion engineer, and founder of High Altitude Strategies, will deliver keynote speech on both Saturday, November 8, and Sunday, November 9. Ms. Zappala became the first female manager of NASA’s Propulsion Systems Laboratory, a jet engine test facility. She lives in northeast Ohio, (District 10) and has been in Toastmasters for almost 10 years. In 2009, she was in the top 10 of 30,000 contestants in the Toastmaster International World Championship of Public Speaking contest. She is the author of 2 books, and is a contributing author in the book “Heart of a Toastmaster.” As a presentation coach, she works with people who want to launch their speaking skills to the next level.
