By: Poligon Poligon has created a set of animal sculptures inspired by some of the most wonderful creatures on earth, taking their form and simplified it whilst keeping their identity. The metal sculptures arrive in flat sheet form which are then sculpted into their final form. Magnets are already fixed onto the sheet so that the individual elements of the sculpture are rapidly assembled into the final piece. This can be achieved by hand with no additional tools. The first of sculptures in the series are a Penguin, Gorilla and a Humpback Whale which are listed as individual pledges in their Kickstarter page and will be presented in London at Designjunction during The London Design Festival, September 18-21 as part of their Kickstarter campaign launch. Kickstarter Goal: In order to achieve their goal of £15,000 going into further development, and defining details such as fold lines and tolerances. Poligon has created a range of insect based sculptures, ready to be made and that can be shipped soon after a successful campaign. The Kickstarter Pledges range from £10 to £290 and include the following: Bedbugs, Woodlouse, Ant, Mantis, Dragonfly, Insect Combo, Penguin, Gorilla, Whale and the ultimate pledge : Poligon will design your favourite Insect + 50 pieces when pledging £2000 or more. Notes for Editors: Poligon is a collaboration between Rodrigo’s Solorzano and Matthew White which began when they met at the Royal College of Art in London. Rodrigo work shows his fascination with paper folding and Matthew has much experience with bringing concepts to production. When introduced Matthew was developing folded metal etching products and Rodrigo’s work was a perfect expression of this process.
