On Friday, October 24th at 8:00 p.m., Dranoff 2 Piano’s Miami season opens at the Coral Gables Congregational Church with Piano Duo Olha Chipak & Oleksiy Kushnir in a concert entitled “Dranoff Goes to the Theater” So much beautiful music has been composed for the opera and ballet; we will hear music from Carmen, Swan Lake, Rigoletto, Petrouchka, and West Side Story, as well as from Dranoff composer Ned Rorem. Tenor Tony L. Boutte and Soprano Jennifer Voigt, both from the University of Miami, will perform Ned Rorem’s music Four Dialogues for soprano, tenor and 2 pianos with the poetry of New York’s celebrated star of the urbane Frank O’Hara. “Dranoff Goes to the Theater” will present acclaimed Ukrainian pianists Olha Chipak and Oleksiy Kushnir who won the Dranoff International 2 Piano Competition in 2003. Today they perform in major Classical venues and Festivals throughout Europe, China and the U.S. They are frequent performers on German public radio and have appeared on television in the Ukraine, Poland and Italy. Today they live and teach the 2 piano repertoire and art form in Rostock, Germany. “Dranoff Goes to the Theater” takes place on Friday, October 24th at the Coral Gables Congregational Church, 3100 De Soto Blvd in Coral Gables, Florida.
