Follow on Google News | Project Aims to Give Free Home to Single Mom through CrowdsourcingAtlanta-area woman hopes to make one young family’s American Dream come true.
By: Vexteo Media Group Initially launched in 2012 at MakeMeAHomeAgain.com, homeowner Kat Kelly revamped the program through Indiegogo for a 60-day run when she realized how much the tenants, a mom and her little boy, like living in the house. “I loved living there for 7 years and I want to be able to give it to someone else who will love it. This young, hardworking mom fits and this would really go a long way to giving her a much needed break and providing a solid foundation as her son grows up,” said Kelly. The idea for the giveaway emerged in 2012 when Kelly decided that she would rather make the house a permanent home for someone than keep it as an investment property for herself. While developing the rules, ensuring legality, and refining the idea, Kelly rented the home through a property management group. Over the past two years, the single mom who has been renting the house has grown to love the house. Kelly is hoping to raise $110,000 to cover paying off the mortgage, taxes, closing costs, and allow for a few repairs. Kelly said, “when I see her there, she just fits. I really hope we can make it permanent for her.” The campaign runs through early November at www.indiegogo.com/ Kat Kelly is the founder and principal of Vexteo Media Group, LLC., a new media launchpad designed to allow content creators a chance to share their stories, ideas, and creatives in a safe, non-threatening environment.
