| Kent State’s College of Business Finance Department to Host Dr. Andrew OdlyzkoBy: Kent State University The presentation will take place at 2 p.m. at the College of Business Administration in the Vaughn Hoover Executive Classroom located on the third floor. The event is free and open to the public, registration is not necessary. Odlyzko is a professor in the School of Mathematics at the University of Minnesota where he is engaged in a variety of projects, from security to Internet traffic monitoring. Currently, Odlyzko is writing a book that compares the Internet bubble to the British Railway Mania of the 1840’s and explores the significance of technology diffusion. Between 2001 and 2008, Odlyzko was at various times the Founding Director of the Interdisciplinary Digital Technology Center, Assistant Vice President for Research and Interim Director of the Minnesota Supercomputing Institute, and held an ADC Professorship, all at the University of Minnesota. He has also dedicated 26 years to research and research management at Bell Telephone Laboratories and AT&T Labs. Odlyzko has written over 150 technical papers in cryptography, number theory, coding theory, probability theory and related fields, along with his three patents. Odlyzko also has an honorary doctorate from the University of Marne la Vallee and serves on several advisory and supervisory bodies as well as editorial boards of over 20 technical journals. He is the author of renowned papers such as, “Content is Not King," “Tragic Loss or Good Riddance: The Impending Demise of Traditional Scholarly Journals," "Paris Metro Pricing for the Internet," and "The Bumpy Road of Electronic Commerce."
