Beach Barre Fitness Studio Opens in Flagler Beach
By: Gayle Jaffe
"With the trend of women's fitness shifting from the big box gyms to more studio based classes, we can offer a more personal approach which focuses on the holistic aspects of fitness. Infused with elements of ballet, yoga, Pilates and core strengthening, Beach Barre's power-packed 1 hour class promises to tone your arms, lift your seat and sculpt your abs in a very low impact, but high intensity fat burning class that will challenge you to get your "shake" on,” said Jaffe. The instruction begins at the barre to floor exercises, intermixed with strength and conditioning bands, balls and light weights. The classes are designed to challenge all of the body’s muscle to craft a long, lean strong and balanced, lengthened body. “I love the atmosphere in Flagler Beach and our clients have been seeing some great results in just a few classes," added Jaffe. Jaffe also stated that all classes are open to all levels and ages in an ‘upbeat and energetic’ setting.
Jaffe, who believes in a holistic approach to wellness, took up the study of natural health and nutrition in a variety of alternative methods at Trinity School of Natural Health after her father's illness in the late 80's, and was able to use her knowledge in helping her mother overcome breast cancer 14 years ago. Her mother, who now is 89, is a strong vibrant women, cancer free and active." I am an advocate for safe fitness in the recovery stages as well as teaching long term lifestyle exercise and nutrition for breast cancer patients. "Natural alternative's along with a safe, fitness routine are becoming more mainstream in our society, as people are looking to improve immune function and stay active during a health crisis in a safe natural approach alone or along side with traditional medical treatment.
Jaffe, certified in numerous fitness elements, has had her share of injuries over the years with the most recent being herniated disks in her neck. Having to stop exercising due to her injuries, she had to find something that would keep her fit, yet safety was a critical element in developing a new program as to not re-injure herself. Taking elements of what she has learned over the years, and combined it with her new love of barre, she developed Beach Barre Fitness.
Beach Barre focuses to empower women in a, ‘It takes a village to instill success approach.’ "It's so inspiring to see all the women encourage one another in such a positive and supportive atmosphere” said Jaffe. “It's not about comparing yourself to anyone, it's about your own personal successes and achievements, and we love to celebrate those between each other,” she added.
Beach Barre offers group classes (the first class is free), private and semi-private sessions, special bridal packages, weight loss and nutritional counseling. They will soon be offering classes in Cancer Exercise Recovery. They hae plans for fitness wear, an exclusive motivational sticky socks, Oka-B sandals, Visalus Nutritional supplements and Nature's Nurse Respigard product lines and more.
