Bangiya Parishad Eco-Friendly Durga Puja

THANE, India - Oct. 1, 2014 - PRLog -- Bangiya Parishad Eco-Friendly Durga Puja dedicated to the protection of Mother Nature.

Thane Bangiya Parishad celebrates Pure Eco-Friendly Durga Puja, 2014 as its adherence to Hindu tradition and commitment to protect mother Earth.

As per Principles of Sanatan Bharat and Upnisada’s, The Divine reveals the glories of this universe to mankind through Prakriti or Nature. The entire cosmic creation begins from the point of the Pancha Bhutas or the 5 elements. They are Earth or Prithvi, Water or Jal, Fire or Agni, Air or Vayu, Ether or Akash. Every article of life  has these distinct five element as basic constituents of its creation.

Following the guidance of Hindu holy scripts of Purans’ that “Idols was created from Mud, Grime and water and decorated with natural colors and flower ornaments”. It is also believed that the idol makers get the spiritual experience of immense bliss when making idols of mud rather than of plaster of Paris, which is very important for ‘Pran Pratishtha’ in the Idol.

10 Commandments of ECO – FRIENDLY Durga Puja of Thane Bangiya Parishad.

        I.          The structure of the Idol’s framework is made on Bamboo, the actual idol has been sculptured with Natural River mud, grass straw and clay while giving shape to the body of the Idol.

       II.          We ensured use of non polluting water solvent colors to promote eco balance with celebration.

     III.          The jewelry and dressing of Idol was crafted from Shola (Jute plants) having pristine white colour symbolizing purity, innocence, cleanliness, wholeness and submission.

     IV.          The Puja Pandal body is constructed with only Bamboo and Wood which represent alignment to life.

      V.          The Pandal cover is done with handcrafted textile which are sourced from Natural ingredients and use of such material support generation of employment.

     VI.          The décor of the entire Pandal has been done again with Pat Kathi (Jute Sticks) which has been crafted to precision by the handicraft artists of rural Bengal supporting eco friendly employment.

   VII.          Also Jhinuk (Left out of Sea Shells) has been used to create the design and portrait of the pandal which again promoted Eco-Friendly celebration and Eco awareness program.

  VIII.          We immerse the Idol in enclosed pond restricting every possibility of eco-pollution of larger water bodies.

     IX.          The entire environment is maintained “Toxic Free” with use of eco friendly paper plate, banana leaves & clay plates for distribution of Prasad.

      X.          Worship material like flowers, vastras (clothes), decorating material (made of paper and plastic) etc. is removed before immersion of idols.

In addition, as part of CSR we donate clothes & re-usable materials to local orphan houses along with surplus of food grain and lentils. We also elaborately contribute to the social causes like this year we are supporting ‘PM’s fund for Flood Victims in Kashmir’

The appearance of the Bangiya Parishad Durga Puja Pandal has been inspired by the Terracota (Fired Clay) construct of the famous Bishnupur temple of West Bengal. Artesian community of Bengal has been residing over last 90 days in Thane Bangiya Parishad Puja premises to ensure all the above has been executed in precision.

We take pride to spread the message of ‘ECO – BALANCE and ECO – Festivity’ by practicing what we preach.  Going forward we intend to collaborate with GEDCL (Green Energy Development Corp. Limited, Govt. of India) to explore selective usage of Solar Energy to reduce consumption of electricity in our Puja Pandal.
