Simulent Inc releases SimDry to the Pulp & Paper, Fabric and Printing Industry

TORONTO - Sept. 30, 2014 - PRLog -- Toronto, ON  – Simulent Inc., a leading Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software development and engineering consulting company, has announced the launch of its newest software tool, SimDry. The new software is important to the pulp and paper, fabric and printing industry as it is used in investigating the drying behavior of wet material.

The drying of paper or fabrics is one of the most poorly understood processes in this industry. Being able to accurately model drying can help with the design and optimization of the drying section by reducing the size and weight of the equipment, energy required to dry the paper or fabrics and the associated production cost.

This unique software solves the problem of drying paper or fabrics by tracking free liquid water, water vapor, and air throughout the material thickness.

The rate of drying is one of the most critical factors when dealing with high production rates in the pulp and paper, fabric and printing industries. Drying is a very energy intensive process, responsible for a large portion of energy costs. Having a thorough understanding of the drying process and the critical parameters influencing the drying rate can lead to increased production with less energy consumption.

SimDry measures the time required to dry paper or fabrics to specific requirements under various operating conditions. SimDry simulates different types of papers and fabrics with several layers and with different moisture content and properties subject to both infrared and steam drum drying. SimDry is used to design, optimize, and investigate the effectiveness of the drying section in pulp and paper and fabric machines as well as high speed inkjet printers.
