CHARLESTON, S.C. - Oct. 20, 2014 - PRLog -- Fertility Center of Charleston Patients Share Their Fertility Journey
Infertility can be a lonely and scary process.   The Fertility Center of Charleston and Dr. Stephanie Singleton help patients navigate the infertility process from the initial consult until conception.  Graduated patients of Dr. Singleton’s speak out in hopes of helping others struggling with infertility.

Struggling with Infertility:
The Fertility Center of Charleston team is dedicated to providing highly individualized care and compassion to couples, women and men seeking fertility treatment.  After meeting with Dr. Singleton, couples speak with a nurse who will guide them through the process of evaluation and treatment.  Here are some of the infertility struggles The Fertility Center of Charleston’s patients have faced:

“My husband and I had tried unsuccessfully for a long while to get pregnant.  We are both young and healthy and were confused and disappointed as to why we were unsuccessful.  We never thought fertility would be the problem.”

“For us, the journey to get our second child has been a long one of almost 3 years including everything from heartache and disappointment to finally joy and excitement.”

“What surprised us to the most is how much planning on everyone's behalf went into the entire cycle. We knew it was a very particular process, however once you experience the whole thing you don't really realize the part that everyone played in making your cycle happen.”

“My husband and I conceived on our own and had a beautiful baby girl! Two years later, we decided to continue to grow our family. After one unsuccessful year, we turned to The Fertility Center of Charleston. After 2 failed IVF attempts, we were finally successful on round 3! We are so glad we never gave up!”

Working with Dr. Stephanie Singleton:
Dr. Stephanie Singleton, FACOG is board certified in both reproductive endocrinology and infertility and in obstetrics and gynecology. She specializes in invitro fertilization therapy, polycystic ovarian syndrome, amenorrhea, and male factor infertility.   Dr. Singleton is the only female board certified reproductive endocrinologist in the Charleston area.   Patients deal directly with Dr. Singleton, and are never shuffled between physicians.  Here are some of the experiences her patients have shared:

“Dr. Singleton was able to diagnose a very rare problem that was directly affecting my fertility.   Without this diagnosis, my husband and I would have never discovered this problem and not been able to get pregnant on our own.  We have nothing but thanks to Dr. Singleton and her wonderful staff and cannot wait to introduce the twins we are expecting in early 2015 to their fairy godparents!”

“We are very thankful for Dr. Singleton and the rest of the staff at Fertility Center of Charleston. Everyone has been wonderful."

“Our experience at The Fertility Center of Charleston was amazing, we felt very welcomed and comfortable every time we came in. The nurses and staff members are very caring, approachable, and knowledgeable, they know how to make you feel right at home.”

“My husband and I could not have asked for a better experience with Dr. Singleton. Her caring compassionate manner eased our worries about becoming pregnant. The entire staff took us step by step through each part of the process and we never felt rushed. Dr. Singleton always took extra time to ensure we understood our treatment plan. We are forever grateful that we were fortunate enough to have her for our doctor.”

The Fertility Journey:

The fertility journey is unique to each couple.  Dr. Stephanie Singleton and her staff compassionately guide each patient to parenthood using the latest advanced reproductive technologies including IVF (http://www.fertilitycharleston.com/our-services/in-vitro-...). The Fertility Center of Charleston has locations in Mt. Pleasant (http://www.fertilitycharleston.com/contact-us/mt-pleasant/), Columbia (http://www.fertilitycharleston.com/contact-us/columbia/), Conway (http://www.fertilitycharleston.com/contact-us/conway/) & Savannah (http://www.fertilitycharleston.com/contact-us/savannah/).  All second opinion consults are free.  Below is a look at some specific fertility journeys of The Fertility Center of Charleston patients:

“I must admit my husband and I were most surprised at first that we found ourselves in The Fertility Center of Charleston's office at all!  The best surprise was how the entire center's staff knows who you are and what your exact personal problems are, it is as if every single person is your own personal nurse.  You always feel comfortable and in a caring environment, which is very important with the sensitivity of all patients that must come through the center.”

“Our first child was conceived using IUI and donor sperm after a failed IVF cycle. After multiple attempts at trying to repeat that same process to have our second child and another failed IVF cycle, we finally decided to try donor sperm & donor egg, which we are happy to say has worked and we couldn't be more excited.”

“What surprised us the most was that we could actually get pregnant via IVF. Before we thought that this might never happen or that we had no chance but Dr. Singleton made it sound so easy and it worked!”

“We were pleasantly surprised how much our insurance covered the infertility process. Also, I was in shock as to how many couples struggled with infertility. However, the staff is caring and did not make us feel like a number, which makes a profound difference when going through the IVF experience.”

Advice for Others Struggling with Infertility:

Sometimes the best advice can come from patients that have been through the process.   The Fertility Center of Charleston continues relationships with their patients, even after they have become pregnant and graduated back to their ob/gyn.   Former patients share advice for couples currently struggling with infertility:

“My advice to other patients experiencing fertility is don't give up and don't be afraid to pursue using a donor if all else has failed. If the bottom line is for you to have a child, then DNA doesn't matter.”

“Don't give up! There is hope and if it happened to us it can definitely happen to you! :)”
"It's not an easy process, it takes time and energy but the reward is so worth it. Trust in the doctors and nurses, they know what they are doing. Even if it seems strange you are doing it for a reason. Don't be afraid to ask questions. The more you ask the more you learn about the whole process.”

“My best advice would be to fully trust Dr. Singleton and let her take the worry off your shoulders. I knew Dr. Singleton and her staff cared about me and my family and were doing everything they could to make the journey a comfortable and successful one.”
