American Paper & Twine Co. Announces The Teacher of the Week for Week FIVE

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Sept. 29, 2014 - PRLog -- American Paper & Twine Co., Titans Radio and Georgia-Pacific Communication Papers announced Coach Clay Burns from Central Magnet School, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, was selected as Teacher of the Week, for week five of the Tennessee Titans 2014
football season.

“We are in our fifth year of the Teacher of the Week program, and it is truly inspiring to see the teacher nominations that we receive every year,” said Karen Shaffer, American Paper & Twine Co. Vice President. “We are extremely lucky to have partners such as Georgia-Pacific and Titans Radio who enable us to recognize incredible teachers across the state of Tennessee, and I believe Coach Burns is an excellent choice to be this week’s winner.”

Coach Burns was nominated by fellow teacher, Jenifer Jones, who said, “Coach Burns is admired by his students and his peers. He always is willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who ever needs it and goes out of his way to go above and beyond in the classroom.” She continued, “He worked with MTSU a couple of years ago to help AP Human Geography be a class that students can receive a college level credit if they pass the AP exam. He also started the Central Bass Magnets fishing team that promotes yet another way for students to receive scholarships. He's coached basketball, baseball, and football over a span of 11 years and past players have went on to be successful adults in the community.”

Each week during the Titans’ season, submissions are reviewed to find exceptional teachers. The winning teachers receive a $400 gift basket full of supplies for their classroom and two tickets to see a Tennessee Titans home game. A new winner is announced every Tennessee Titans game and at the end of the season a ‘Teacher of the Year’ is selected from the Teacher of the Week winners. This deserving teacher will receive an award, a gift basket of school supplies (worth approx. $800) and tickets to the December 28th game vs. the Indianapolis Colts.
