ACISE-LA Announces The Golden Maples
The Academy of Canadians in Sports and Entertainment- Los Angeles (ACISE-LA) announced today the creation of the Golden Maple Awards to be presented in June of 2015 in Los Angeles.
The Golden Maple Awards honor Canadian talent excelling in television programs broadcasted in the United States along with Canadian athletes (NFL, MLS, NBA, MLB…).
At the beginning of 2015, ACISE-LA will announce the venue and the categories with voting to be conducted by ACISE-LA members.
Additionally, there will be few honorary awards for non-Canadian talent and athletes.
“Canadian Talent in Hollywood have flown under the radar for far too long. The Britishs have BAFTA-LA events, and were well represented at the Emmys. With the Golden Maple Awards, we will be reminding Tinseltown that Canada has just as strong contenders as the rest of the world.”, said Evelyne Morrisseau, ACISE-LA executive director.
The organization opened its doors to members earlier in 2014. ACISE-LA ambassadors are Emily Hampshire (COSMPOLIS, 12 Monkeys), Suzanne Clément (LAURENCE ANYWAYS, I KILLED MY MOTHER), Kathleen Robertson (Bates Motel, HOLLYWOODLAND)
The website, acise.la, has launched for prospective members to locate information about joining. Social media channels have also gone online through Twitter, Facebook, Google+, and Instagram.
ACISE-LA is a privately funded, non-profit organization for the promotion of Canadian entertainment and sports talent in the United States. Membership extends to acting and directing talent belonging to the trade unions (DGA, DGC, UDA, SAG-AFTRA, ACTRA). Its members will include Canadian athletes who compete for franchises (NFL, NHL, NBA, MLB, MLS) as well as Canadian Olympians.
