WEST DEPTFORD, N.J. - Sept. 23, 2014 - PRLog -- The Gloucester County Italian Heritage Commission announced the lineup for the 11th Annual Italian Heritage Festival of Gloucester County. The event is scheduled for Sunday, September 28, rain or shine, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Held on the grounds of the Riverwinds Community Center in West Deptford, the festival is fashioned after an Italian street fair and promises a day of family fun and a great opportunity to experience authentic Italian culture right here in South Jersey.

This year’s lineup includes Center City Opera Theatre, performing selected Italian arias, as the main stage headliner. The versatile Fulvio & Friends band, and Italian singer Don Felice will complete the event’s musical entertainment. The Vivaci traditional folk dancers will have the crowd on its feet doing the tarantella and other Italian folk dances.

Kids will be mesmerized by Dr. Neff ‘s Incredible Sicilian Marionettes, participate in Italian lessons and song by La Fata Italiana (the Italian Fairy), don magnificent body art and make traditional Carnivale masks. Cascading Comedy will delight the crowd with stilt walking and other hilarious antics.

Artist Joanne Martin will provide opportunities for participants to walk away with their own handmade pottery piece, and author George Anastasia will be on hand signing his books.

Make sure to bring an appetite. In typical Italian traditional, there will be no shortage of delicious Italian food of all types provided by a variety of local food vendors, including Glassboro’s Italian Affair, Nino Gervasi of Paulsboro, Pitman’s Venice Eatery, Ciconte’s Cibo Grill and more.

La Gelato and Gezzi’s Water Ice will be offering up the dessert offerings along with Gianino's Pastries (https://www.facebook.com/GianinosPastries) of Washington Township, a Festival favorite that has participated every year so far. Partner Nino explains why he loves participating at the festival:

"We love being vendors at the annual Italian Heritage Festival. Our homemade cannoli is a crowd favorite. The festival is a great time and we always have so much fun dancing to the music and making friends with our neighboring vendors. And while we're having fun, our table is always crowded and we connect with lots of new customers at the festival. We have even received some local media exposure because of the festival. Overall, we love participating in the Italian Heritage Festival and plan to for years to come. It's a great way to have some fun and grow your business. And if you're not Italian, everyone is Italian at the festival!"

Crafters and exhibitors will round out the day’s offerings. Participants will be able to try their hand at a bocce game or two as well.

Admission is free and ample free parking is available. Festival planners expect the event to draw upwards of 8,000-10,000 people from the tri-state area and beyond.

The Gloucester County Italian Heritage Commission hosts the festival to promote and keep Italian traditions and culture alive. A primary mission of the Commission is preserving the Italian language and each year provides scholarship awards to students studying the language.
