OLD LYME, Conn. - Sept. 22, 2014 - PRLog -- Audio specialist Sennheiser announced that Fred Heyne of Jacksonville, FL is the winner of a Sennheiser S1 Passive headset and an iFlightPlanner Premier Annual Membership after naming a SkyWay over Chiang Mai, Thailand after his grandsons Nicholas and Anthony Buchanan. Sennheiser has supported Think Global Flight since 2012, when Captain Judy Rice, an aviator and champion of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education among children, announced her plans to embark on a global flight to help educate hundreds of children around the world, inspiring them to learn more about aviation and increase awareness of STEM topics.

Mr. Heyne was presented with his S1 Passive headset and iFlightPlanner Premier Annual Membership last month, honoring his support for Think Global Flight and its mission to promote the importance of education to students worldwide. Nicholas, his 14-year old grandson, is currently enrolled in a medical arts magnet program at Darnnell Cookman in Jacksonville, while his other grandson Anthony is currently starting his first year in middle school.

"Sennheiser recognizes the significance of real-world applications for STEM," commented David Dunlap, Director, Sennheiser Aviation. "The efforts and objectives of the Think Global Flight team are very much in line with Sennheiser Aviation's own values, aimed at supporting the aviation community and helping to grow the pilot population. Promoting STEM education is a vital step in building a foundation for future pilots and Sennheiser is very excited to be a part of these efforts."

Supporters of Think Global Flight's Buy A SkyWay program were asked to identify their favorite flight route over the Pacific, Atlantic or Indian Oceans and name it after a person or company, and automatically entered into a prize drawing for the Sennheiser S1 Passive headset and iFlightPlanner Premier Annual Membership.

The Sennheiser S1 Passive is a high-performance general aviation headset that offers pilots both excellent passive noise attenuation and optimum wearing comfort. The full-sized headset was developed for pilots who demand outstanding noise attenuation but do not want to use an active headset. The S1 Passive is also ideal in preventing hearing loss: if a signal above a level of 110 dB is received, ActiveGard compresses the sound, and everything remains clearly intelligible at a healthy volume.
