Follow on Google News | Every 100 legal sector jobs supports 67 jobs in rest of economy - Total Insurance respondsTotal Insurance has responded to Law Society Deputy Vice-President Robert Bourns' comments that every 100 jobs in the legal services sector supports a further 67 in the wider economy.
By: Total Insurance Mr Bourns also told the Policy Exchange's Future of the City Conference that every £1 spent in legal services supports £2.39 of output in the rest of the economy, and that the legal services sector should reach pre-recession levels over 2015. Commenting, Kevin Burke, spokesperson for Total Insurance - a team of solicitors professional indemnity insurance brokers based in Bradford - said: "Mr Bourns' comments reinforce the importance of legal service providers, illustrating how they are not only integral to the UK's economy, but could be a driver of post-recession growth. "However, despite the importance of solicitors, and despite the way in which they add strength to all other UK sectors, times are still challenging for legal service providers. "An ever-harsher legislative environment, shifting regulatory sands and an inflexible public policy framework could mean that business will only get harder for solicitors even as the economy improves. "To protect their bottom line and their clients, solicitors need to take out a professional indemnity insurance policy that was designed with their business in mind."
