The pace of this novel makes it a real page turner, with intricate puzzles intertwined with captivating suspense and a mystery involving not only the conspirators, but linking them to the excesses of the French court of Louis XIV, the legend of the Man in the Iron Mask and even the Three Musketeers.

The quality of the writing is superb, right up the incredible twist at the end, taking place within the amazing depiction of the storming of the Bastille.
