Bloomberg Sports, MVPindex Announce Multi-Faceted Analytic Evaluation Partnership

Combined Effort Will Create A New, Comprehensive Measurement Tool For Overall Athlete Impact On and Off The Field

NEW YORK - Sept. 18, 2014 - PRLog -- Bloomberg Sports, the world’s leaders in sports analytic technology and the newest member of the STATS global network, and Dallas-based MVPindex today announced a new partnership designed to combine the strongest performance analytics in sports with the most robust social media statistics in the industry, forming a new way of analyzing and developing an overall athletic performance measurement. The new partnership is designed to help enhance and quantify engagement for brands, consumers and media companies around sponsorable sports-related assets such as teams, leagues, athletes and venues.

The first combined effort studies the correlation between a football player's social media index and his fantasy draft projection level, which revealed that in a number of cases fans should avoid being swayed by "hot" social media figures whose fantasy projections do not measure up.   Another analysis underway centers on the BSports Power 50 European soccer players and the degree to which their play on the field mirrors -- or doesn't -- their performance in social media.

“This partnership with MVPindex underscores the various ways in which the new and advanced use of data can benefit fans, media companies and marketers to a much larger extent than has ever existed before,” said Bill Squadron, STATS EVP and head of Bloomberg Sports.  “By combining performance analytics with social media social engagement we will be able to provide a very unique look into every aspect of performance for an athlete, and see where and how social media impacts or doesn’t impact an athlete’s overall brand value and performance.”

“Companies are constantly looking to find the most efficient and effective ways to evaluate their engagements with athletes,” said Kyle Nelson co-founder and CMO of MVPindex.  “Our goal here is to combine all that is impacting performance on the field with what is being communicated off the field in social media and deliver the best and most intriguing snapshot possible to all those interested in real-time brand value analysis, versus survey-based analysis traditionally used today. We think this will help change the way athlete’s digital presence will be evaluated and valued going forward. We are proud to be working with BSports on this new groundbreaking partnership.”

The two companies expect to apply the MVPIndex social media scores to the BSports's performance and predictive analytics across all major sports.
