Video and Web Chat Feature a Runner’s Positive Perspective on Cancer

This story will resonate with anyone facing a cancer diagnosis or other life-altering event.

SALT LAKE CITY - Sept. 17, 2014 - PRLog -- The Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation will be hosting its first live web chat on Monday, September 29 from 7pm to 8pm (Eastern).  The guest speaker will be Bill Merriam who is featured in the poignant video: My Toughest Marathon: A Runner’s Perspective on Cancer (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adwqYorfV7Q&feature=youtu.be).

Bill is the father of 6 and grandfather of 13.  He was diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer) in 2009.   In this inspirational video, he shares his “story” and perspective on cancer from a marathon runner’s point-of-view:

“I have cancer but I am not going to let it stop me from being an active participant in the most active way that can as a father, spouse, and as a family-head so it becomes the new normal . . . I have a disease,   the disease doesn’t have me.”

This is the first in a series of live online patient education programs that encourage interactive discussions to help patients and caregivers in their search for quality information and encourage communication and engagement within the cholangiocarcinoma community. The series will offer multimedia formats including:

* One-hour live web chat programs with Q&A
* Archived webinar for future viewing

“I am delighted that Bill and his family created this video.  It provides inspiration and hope to not only patients and caregivers but also to the cholangiocarcinoma community-at-large.  By sharing his journey, Bill encourages the researchers, clinicians, pharmaceutical companies, and others to accelerate their efforts to diagnose, treat, and ultimately find a cure for this disease,” said Stacie Lindsey, Founder and President of the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation.
