PITTSBURGH - Sept. 16, 2014 - PRLog -- Founded with the purpose of providing each customer with something unique, mother-daughter duo Louise and Sarah Silk launched SilkDenim, a line of 100% recycled handmade clothing, accessories, and quilts. Guided by a love of artisanship, individuality, & eco-consciousness, each product is made to order from handpicked salvaged jeans. Adding to their one-of-a kind vibe, SilkDenim offers customers the option to have a hand in the making of their product by sending their old jeans to the mother-daughter team to be transformed into one of their custom-made pieces.

Louise is a life-long Pittsburgh artist who continually exposed Sarah to her love of fibers. Together, they make all their products in Louise’s loft studio in Pittsburgh. Inspired by the former steel city’s working town vibe, SilkDenim’s pieces are practical, casual, and highlight the organic distresses that denim provides. From paint marks to aged holes, Louise and Sarah accentuate the beauty of imperfection with their unique aesthetic.
