By: Medical Tourism Association® Dr. Zhang Junhua, deputy director general at the ministry’s Health Human Resource Development Centre, will introduce how international healthcare players can tap into China’s healthcare reform initiatives through the latest mobile healthcare technologies during “Medical Silk Road,” an mHealth conference organized through a partnership between the Medical Tourism Association® “China’s trillion-dollar healthcare reform will soon be opened to partnership with international healthcare players,” said Dr. Zhang, who will conduct a Power Dialogue with Alwi Hamu, former secretary general of the Indonesia Office of the Vice President. “The more open dialogue with international partners and pro-technology leverage players in the reform will allow China to tap into global resources for innovative implementation of new healthcare solutions in hospitals, clinics and homes throughout the country. Sustainable and innovative human resource development is a key success factor in the giant healthcare reform, which will encompass more than 200 million Chinese 60-years and older.” The demand for improved healthcare in China has been reinforced by inequalities between urban and rural areas, richer and poorer provinces and east and west. As the largest consumer of mobile phones in the world, China is poised to act on private sector investment that includes mHealth apps, smart home automation, and healthcare games among others. The Power Dialogue with Dr. Zhang and Hamu will invite international stakeholders to connect to the region’s medical reform, which is scheduled to include construction of urban hospitals and rural clinics as well as state-funded healthcare delivery systems that have the potential to contribute US$1.3 trillion to the local economy or nearly 7 percent of the gross domestic product by 2020.
