ROCKFORD, Ill. - Sept. 16, 2014 - PRLog -- Clark Colborn is releasing a new EP titled “Ones and Zeros” on September 29th. It’s a physical release that is made up of three cover songs that were previously available only in digital format. There is also a fourth (unlisted) track. A preview video can be seen here: http://youtu.be/ZisnzrJoFS4. The cover tracks include one by The Beatles, a Stevie Wonder song and a Who classic. The hidden track is a live performance of a Jimi Hendrix song.

Clark Colborn is an American rock guitarist, composer and recording artist. Born and raised not far from Chicago, Illinois, he has been a performing musician most of his life. Not following the beaten path is in his nature, and it shows in his guitar playing and his song writing. His adventurous and innovative disposition has made it hard to pigeon-hole his genre, yet his unique sound has garnered him fans of every variety. Colborn spent years on the stages of roadhouses and rock venues throughout the Midwest with bands such as Cheater, Blackjack, and Sleight of Hand, before stepping fully into the spotlight as a solo artist.

In a review of the EP set to appear in the next issue of Music Street Journal, Greg Olma said this, “For those of you who don’t know who Colborn is, get yourself acquainted.  He is a guitarist who has a little bit of that Joe Satriani/Steve Vai vibe going but you have to add a bit of Frank Zappa quirkiness to the mix.  I was first introduced to Colborn on the Will Sing for Food: A Charity Album to Benefit the Rock RiverValley Food Pantry, Rockford, Illinois CD, and his track was my favorite on that disc.  While I may put him in the guitar shredder category, like Satriani and Vai, Colborn has a great sense of melody and he lets the song come first.  Even though he did not write the tracks on offer here, he somehow still makes them his own without taking away from the original.  For those of you who need an introduction to him, this is a good place to start.  You can dip your toe in the water by getting to hear his style but on tunes you probably already know.”

In his review at Music Emissions, Solitary Man (Kevin Sellers) said, “This four-track bag of treats has a nice mix of classic rock/pop jams, all offering unique twists on their original forms. Colborn, for all the exuberations of more well known guitarists, has such soul and flair in his playing that I have a hard time understanding how he hasn't found a larger niche so far…You pick up on it immediately, with an almost-100% guitar-driven version of the Beatles' ‘Eleanor Rigby’. Clark replaces the moody vocals with guitar that speaks in, dare I say it, a larger voice than the original. There's just more soul, more conviction, behind his playing…With an ever-growing repetoire of examples, Clark Colborn should become a fixture in any guitar-driven rock fan's perception. He has all the tools and all the soul necessary to become synomynous with the term 'Guitar Hero'. I've only had a few moments' worth of releases to spend with him, but Mr. Colburn has left a major impression. I think he'll rub off on you, too.”
