TOLEDO, Ohio - Sept. 15, 2014 - PRLog -- If you've ever wanted to help local animals in need but didn't think you could really make a difference, the “Pets In Poverty Fair” has a message for you: “You ARE the difference!”

The Pets In Poverty Fair is an event to held to raise pet food donations for Humane Ohio's Pet Food Bank, which distributes over 7,000 pounds of food each month to families of pets in need. Last year, the event raised 3,526 lbs of dog and cat food for the pet food bank, coming from donations, large and small.

Rod Piece, organizer of the Pets In Poverty Fair event, stresses this is a way for anyone in the community to make a difference in the lives of hungry pets. “Large donations are certainly welcomed”, said Pierce, “but even small donations add to the effort. It all counts and it's all greatly appreciated!”

This year, the organization hopes to raise 4,000 lbs in total pet food donations. And the event will have plenty of entertainment and promises to be a fun-filled day for the kids.

Activities will include:

- A Bounce House For Kids

- Face Painting

- Snacks and Beverages

- Hot “DOGS”

- Music provided by “Professional Sounds, Inc.”

- A Command Performance by Sheltered Reality at 3pm

Local animal groups will also be on hand, some with animals for adoption. Some of the organizations expected to participate include:

- Toledo Area Humane Society

- Lucas County Canine Care and Control

- Planned Pethood

- Dogworks, Inc. Canine Rescue And Placement

- Best Friends Forever Rescue

- “Sit Means Sit” Dog Training

- Andy's Army K-9 Cancer Awareness Project

- Humane Ohio

This year the event has an added emphasis: “Humane Ohio has told us they are in desperate need of cat food, Pierce added. “So, we'd like to encourage people to consider a donation of cat food.”

Wet and dry dog and cat food will be collected along with monetary donations and all profit proceeds gong to benefit the Humane Ohio Pet Food Bank.

Souvenir T-shirts will also be available for purchase.

Admission to the event is Free!
