WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. - Sept. 11, 2014 - PRLog -- The 3rd Annual Triunfo YMCA Goblin Gallop will be held Saturday, October 18 as part of the 12th Annual Westlake Village City Celebration. A 5K run and 1-mile "trick or treat" run/walk will begin and end at the Westlake Village Civic Center (31200 Oak Crest Dr., Westlake Village) where the city celebration takes place. Proceeds from the two runs will support Triunfo YMCA teen and family programs.

Kids participating in the 1-mile run/walk can collect treats at stops along the way. They can wear Halloween costumes and should bring trick or treat bags. The run/walk begins at 5:00 p.m.

The 5K Goblin Gallop starts at 6:15 p.m. The route heads down Agoura Road to Lindero Canyon Road to Westlake Lake and then back. Timing chips are provided by Royal Results. Race medals will be awarded to the top male and female runners in 13 age groups.

“Everyone is encouraged to wear Halloween costumes,” says Chrissy Withers, Triunfo Y’s lead program director. “We’ll be holding a best costume competition for the 5K runners and walkers. Check in at the costume contest booth before the run and you will be entered into the competition. The top five costumes judged the best will win prizes.”

The City Celebration is from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and features performances by local entertainers and a family festival with proceeds benefiting While Oak Elementary School. A 6:00 p.m. magic show, sponsored by the Friends of the Westlake Village Library, will highlight the talents of magician Doug Hoover. The celebration will also feature an e-waste drop-off location presented by PC Recycle at the Farmers Insurance parking lot (31051 Agoura Rd.).

Food trucks will be on hand serving hot food and desserts, and beer and wine will be available from Wade’s Wines

“The Triunfo Y is excited that the Goblin Gallop is such a big part of the annual Westlake Village City Celebration tradition,” says Withers. “The day has something for everyone and brings the community together.”

Lead sponsors of the Goblin Gallop are the City of Westlake Village, Dole, Morgan Stanley and UCLA Health.

Early registration (through October 1) is $20 for the 5K run and $10 for the 1-mile walk/run ($25 for both). Through October 15, registration is $25 for the 5K run and $15 for the 1-mile walk/run ($35 for both). Late and race day registration is $30 for the 5K run and $20 for the 1-mile walk-run ($40 for both). To register online, go to www.triunfoygoblingallop.com. Runners can pick up their runner packets before the race on October 18 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Road Runner Sports (1714 Newbury Road Newbury Park).

The Goblin Gallop is part of the new YMCA Run for Your Community series where neighboring YMCA branches host runs throughout the year (including the Miller Family YMCA of Newbury Park July 4th run and Conejo Valley YMCA Turkey Day Dash on Thanksgiving Day).
