Tutors By Base Announces Free Online College Readiness Webinars for High School Parents

Military Spouses Help Parents Master the College Admissions Process

ARLINGTON, Va. - Sept. 9, 2014 - PRLog -- ONLINE—Tutors By Base is proud to announce that it will be hosting free online college readiness webinars for parents of high school students. A private tutoring company that offers both online and in-person tutoring for students of all ages, Tutors By Base will host a monthly webinar online to help address the many questions and concerns that parents have as their students work through the planning and preparation process for college.

“The process of admission for college gains new dimensions every year,” said Karina Gafford, Founder of Tutors By Base. “We’re aiming to address the most pressing questions that parents have regarding whether to take the ACT or SAT and Dual Enrollment or AP.” Gafford continued, “We’ll also look at how to identify which college is the best fit. Some students will thrive in smaller liberal arts colleges; whereas, others will find the greatest benefit in larger state schools.”

Foremost Questions that Parents Have about College Readiness
Open to all, Tutors By Base’s expert college advisor will provide an overview of what parents need to know at this point in the process and how prepare a game plan for success both for the upcoming year and, for parents of younger students, for the years to come. Parents of younger students can benefit from learning how to start the process well and plan for success while parents of older students will find benefit in learning quick tips to help make sure their student is on track right now.

Webinars will be held on the third Wednesday of each month, beginning on September 17, 2014, at 10:00 AM E.T. Each webinar will last for thirty minutes followed by a question-and-answer period for an additional fifteen minutes. Parents will receive a survey several days in advance of the webinar to help identify the key questions that will most benefit each group of registrants. Questions may also be submitted during the webinar through our chat function.

Each webinar will have a college readiness theme appropriate to that month. October will address the Common Application and the Early Admission decision, for example, while March will focus on college visits, preparing for a productive summer, and state testing. Tutors By Base is confident that these webinars will help parents just as their tutoring sessions have.

“My 17 year old has struggled for 9 years with understanding math,” said Julie, a parent of a Tutors By Base student. “We have been lucky enough, in the past, to find a tutor through neighbors or another student in his class. However, when we moved to Arlington, not only did we not know any neighbors to ask, but my son was struggling horribly in Algebra 2. I contacted Tutors by Base and they found me two excellent tutors. One helped with some of the basic concepts of algebra 2 and the other helped my son gain confidence in the more advanced steps. For the first time all year, my son has felt confident going into exams and is scoring several letter grades HIGHER than before. And all this in 4 lessons. Look out ACT/SAT tests this summer!

Thanks Tutor by Base!”
