Follow on Google News | ![]() Bubba the Love Sponge® Foundation Aides Fallen Deputy’s FamilyNationally syndicated radio personality Bubba the Love Sponge® set plans in motion this morning at the start of his program to aid the family members struck with the tragic loss of their loved one while serving the people of West Ashley, SC.
Bubba offered deep condolences to Charleston County Sherriff’s Office and pledged to help them in their time of need. “My foundation’s mission is to immediately offer financial relief for widows of fallen officers and deputies in our syndicated markets,” Bubba declared while speaking with callers from LM Communications’ In order to ease the weight of the burden, Bubba, through the Bubba the Love Sponge® Foundation, will be sending $10,000 overnight to the widow of Joseph Matuskovic to handle a portion of her expenses during this time. There is also a “Bikes for Badges” charity motorcycle ride set for October 4, 2014, details will follow on Charleston’s WYBB 98 Rock. All funds above and beyond $10,000 will go directly to Mrs. Matuskovic. Bubba concluded a call with a Charleston local near the end of his program saying, “Our heart goes out to Mrs. Matuskovic, to the entire Charleston area, the Charleston PD, surrounding municipalities, the Charleston [County] Sheriff’s Department. All officers. We always have your back.” About the Bubba the Love Sponge® Foundation: Bubba the Love Sponge® Foundation generates funding via its “Bikes for Badges” charity motorcycle rides and its annual “BTLS Foundation Raffle.” The charity motorcycle rides create a partnership between Bubba’s loyal supporters, affectionately known as “Bubba Army”, and local agencies that lose one of their own in the line of duty. With the help of local agents and his radio stations, Bubba leads a motorcycle procession through the town to remember the sacrifice of those in uniform as well as to offer them support in their future duties. “I am very proud that the Bubba Army has given me the funds and resources to make that kind of donation to somebody in need, and I am so very thankful for our fans that help us out by giving us that power.” To date, the Bubba the Love Sponge® Foundation has raised more than $600,000 for nineteen widows of fallen officers. Bubba also accepts donations from his national listeners that are unable to attend via his annual charity raffle or a direct donation via the Bubba the Love Sponge® Foundation website.
