Mayor of Coventry opens new Jelson home

COVENTRY, U.K. - Sept. 9, 2014 - PRLog -- It's not very often that VIPs are prepared to visit a live construction site but the Lord Mayor of Coventry, Councillor Hazel Noonan did just that!

She recently took time out of her busy schedule to see Jelson Homes' 'Holmwood' development, off Lythalls Lane, up close, where she was treated to a short tour of some of the 59 properties undergoing construction and officially cut a ribbon to mark the opening of the brand-new view apartment.

Commenting, she said: “I am delighted to have been invited as guest of honour. This development is welcome news for local house hunters and it is wonderful to see such a wide collection of three-bedroom mews and semi-detached homes being constructed.”

As part of her visit, she also chatted to site staff about their different roles also to residents who had recently taken advantage of the government-backed Help to Buy† Scheme.

First-time buyers

One young couple to have already benefited from the scheme is Jerzy Jordan and Ula Piwowar who moved in at Holmwood in just a few weeks. The couple came to the UK in 2005 for better career opportunities and had always opted to live in rented accommodation close to the city centre. They decided, however, that 2014 was to be the year they would eventually buy.

Having already been told that they needed to vacate their current rented apartment, the pressure was on to find somewhere to set up home – and fast. Within a matter of weeks of looking they discovered Holmwood, which opened in May and offers the government-backed Help to Buy scheme.

Jerzy said: “We couldn’t believe our luck! It had everything we could have wished for and was in a great location too.”

With their deposit saved and all financial documents in place and checked, Jerzy and Ula took full advantage of Help to Buy, were offered a mortgage and moved-in in under three weeks.
