Your Child is a Worm! (And a Rat! And a Flea!)

LONDON - Sept. 9, 2014 - PRLog -- London House Titles publishes "When You Were a Worm (and Other Stories and Creepy Crawlies), a new collection of reader-centered short stories for children by Neil Roy McFarlane.

Like his previous highly praised collection "A Month of Bedtime Stories", this new collection is written in the second person, making for an immersive experience in these wildly imaginative adventures.

"I was stunned to hear how effective the second-person narrative was in the previous collection," said Mcfarlane. "For adults perhaps it's hard to believe that such a simple device could be so effective. But feedback from kids has been amazing. I'm convinced that this is partly because they really believe these things happened to them."

In each story of "When You Were a Worm", the reader/listener changes into a creepy crawly or similarly unpleasant creature such as a snake, a spider, or a frog, and learns what it's like to live the life of such a critter.

In the process, children (and parents) learn amazing facts about wildlife and the natural world. For example, did you know that rats can run as fast as humans, they are sociable creatures and devoted to their babies, and they're really good at robbing banks!?

The stories contain heavy doses of humour which will appeal to parent and child alike.

Neil Roy McFarlane has worked as writer and editor of English subtitles for such films as Beijing Blues (Winner Golden Horse Awards) and To Live and Die in Ordos (Winner, Tokyo International FF).
