PLACENTIA, Calif. - Sept. 9, 2014 - PRLog -- The Placentia Yorba Linda Girls Softball Association (PYLGSA) has announced that the group has accepted an invitation from the City of Placentia to march in the 50th Annual Placentia Heritage Festival Parade on Saturday, October 11, 2014.  The PYLGSA also announced that the group will have a members-staffed booth at the Festival to welcome visitors and discuss the advantages, rewards, and joys of being a member of the PYLGSA.

According to Michelle Hughes, Publicity Director and Fundraising Coordinator, “Marching in the parade will not only provide the opportunity for PYLGSA members to show their pride in belonging to the league, but it will also add emphasis that the group is an integral part of the community.”

Established in 1970, Placentia Yorba Linda Girls Softball Association (PYLGSA) is a fast pitch softball league for girls ages 5-16.  The PYLGSA won a State championship in 2008, as well as many district championships throughout the years, earning the group a reputation as one of Southern California’s most respected leagues.

“PYLGSA is about having fun and playing good, clean softball surrounded by friends,” states Hughes.  “PYLGSA is a place where girls learn to play softball in a recreational environment and encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating support for all players, coaches, and officials at every game, practice, or other sporting events.  They learn the value of being an integral member of a team.”

Many of PYLGSA’s players have also gone on to achieve great things:

·      Nicole Schroeder, who played for PYLGSA, is the Esperanza Aztec all-time leader in triples and grand slams

·      Amanda Watkins, former PYLGSA player and coach, pitched for Harvard University

The league is governed by Southern California ASA and adheres to the rules and guidelines set forth by ASA/USA Softball.  The Placentia Heritage Festival is an annual community event in the City of Placentia, CA, and is open to families, individuals and children of all ages.  The Festival includes a parade, pancake breakfast, entertainment, craft fair, car show and more.  The Festival is attended by more than 20,000 people.  For more information contact: Michelle Hughes, PYLGSA Publicity Director at publicity@pylgsa.org or (714)326-6811.
