Sept. 8, 2014 - PRLog -- Etobicoke, ON – We all know someone who is a Hero. They could be a neighbour who shovels the driveway for an elderly parent, a friend who tirelessly cares for a medically complex child or a nurse who goes the extra mile for a spouse. Recognize your Hero for the difference they made in your life, a loved one’s life or in the community by submitting their name for recognition at the Mississauga Halton CCAC’s fifth annual Heroes in the Home Awards. All recipients will be honoured at ceremonies in October.

There are three award ceremonies scheduled to honour this year’s Heroes:

1.   October 15 in Milton at the Teatro Conference Centre

2.   October 21 in Mississauga at the Mississauga Convention Centre

3.   October 23 in Oakville at the Oakville Conference Centre

All ceremonies take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

To submit your Hero for recognition, or to find out more about the events, please visit http://healthcareathome.ca/mh/en/heroes-in-the-home. Say thank you to your Hero today.

“Often the ones contributing the most to our patients’ care are friends, family and neighbours and they rarely see themselves as the Heroes they are. They make a tremendous difference in the lives of those impacted by age, illness or disability and it is important to recognize them and show appreciation for what they do,” says Caroline Brereton, CEO, Mississauga Halton CCAC, adding “the Heroes in the Home Awards is just one way we can say thank you.”

The Heroes in the Home Awards recognize family members, friends, neighbours, co-workers, community volunteers, personal support workers, care coordinators, nurses, therapists and other health professionals who have made a difference in someone’s life. There is no limit to the number of Heroes you can recognize. Since 2010, the Mississauga Halton CCAC has honoured 395 caregiving Heroes throughout South Etobicoke, Mississauga, Oakville, Halton Hills and Milton.
