Tomorrow is Today: WORLD TRUST Announces Benefit Gala Celebration

OAKLAND, Calif. - Sept. 8, 2014 - PRLog -- World Trust Educational Services announces its first Benefit Gala Celebration.

World Trust, a leader in social and racial justice education, produces films and leads seminars to provide a framework, common language, and the cultural competency skills necessary to challenge systems of racial oppression. “As the issue of racial injustice continues to be in the national limelight, World Trust is on the front lines with insightful perspectives across racial groups that inform effective interventions,” says Ricardo Millett, President of World Trust’s Board of Trustees. “Authentic, honest dialogue is urgently needed if the cycle of racism is to be broken and transformed. And this is exactly what Shakti Butler and World Trust provide.”

World Trust’s workshops & film clips have engaged over 1,000,000 people in productive racial equity dialogue, building the capacity to challenge structural inequity in institutions and communities nationwide. Says Founder and President Shakti of World Trust: “Through film content, facilitation, and racial equity resources, we promote dialogue that builds and strengthens communities. We collaborate with organizations and individuals in order to facilitate, connect, and expand the tremendous efforts of many who are working to create a world that is inclusive.” This Gala Celebration will be a special evening of community building and celebration of the accomplishments of this past year.

Held at the brand new Impact Hub in Oakland, the event will feature an eclectic mix of food, drink, and music, highlighting some of the Bay Area’s best restaurants, bars, wineries and bands. Additionally, the evening will include film, dialogue, and an exciting live auction.

The Gala will feature dinner made by Simply Bliss Catering, a company specializing in elegant dishes made with local and sustainable ingredients. Additionally, guests will be able to enjoy live musical performances by Amikeayla, Aisha Fukushima, and the acclaimed Pete & Juan Escovedo’s Latin Jazz Band.

The live auction will feature some incredible packages, including a getaway weekend in beautiful Dillon Beach, California and a week-long retreat at a house on the coast of Spain.

Tickets are available online and at the door (cash or cards), and attendees will have the option to purchase tickets at two levels, General Admission at $75 and Donor Level at $125. Though both tickets include food, an open bar, and entertainment for the evening, the Donor Level ticket includes a copy of World Trust’s new release DVD: Racial Equity Learning, Volume 1.

“This year has been an incredible one for World Trust,” says Butler, “It has been an honor for us to work and support ideas that promote racial equity and inclusion. Current heartbreaking events, part of ongoing U.S. historical patters, have made me feel even stronger that we have to keep working towards creating equitable outcomes through structural change. And, part of confronting racial inequity is connecting more deeply with each other. With your support, we will continue to provide educational tools that are rooted in love and justice.”

World Trust’s Benefit Gala Celebration, Tomorrow is Today: Creating and Just and Equitable World For All, will be held on Thursday October 2, 2014, 7pm, at Impact Hub Oakland (2323 Broadway, Oakland).
